Fall is here, and we are ready to do all of our favorite seasonal activities.

Decorating Your Front Porch

Adding seasonal decor to your front porch is the perfect way to feel festive every time you arrive home. Using items like pumpkins, corn stalks, and mums is a simple way to make a big impact.

Sprucing Up Your Mantle

We love how Jamie from So Much Better With Vintage decorated her mantle in a non-traditional neutral color palette. Old books, metallic accents, and vases of grain create a calm and cozy look.

Baking Apple Pie

If you want to take your apple pie to the next level…or maybe the next ten levels, try out this beautiful rose Apple Walnut Tart from Baking a Moment. We were blown away when we saw this beautiful dessert.

Wandering Through Corn Mazes

Mike's Maze

There are corn mazes to be found all over the country, but one of our personal favorites is Mike’s Maze in Massachusetts. They go above and beyond year with a unique maze, trivia, haunted fright nights, and a petting zoo for the kiddos.

Going on Cool Weather Picnics

While picnics are usually classified as a spring/summer activity, we think that fall picnics might be the best of them all. Gone are the pesky bugs and summer humidity, and in their place is cool air and bright foliage. Curling up under a blanket while snacking on cheese and crackers sounds pretty wonderful to us right now.

Drinking Apple Cider

Homemade Apple Cider 8

If you’re interested in trying your hand at homemade apple cider, this recipe from Hint of Vanilla looks amazing. She adds brown sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla bean (of course), and it sounds like the best thing ever.

Autumn Has Never Ever Looked So Good!

cozy fall sweaters

September 23rd marks the start of the autumn season! The season of chunky knit sweaters, pumpkin spice lattes, brisk mornings, LOTS of turkey, apple picking, leaves changing, boots, darker hues and days you just want to stay curled up in bed. Although our favorite memories and pastimes of this special time of year stay the same, trends are always changing! So what’s in store for this year? Let’s take a peek…

Color: This Fall we see a more toned down palette that incorporates hues such as mustard, muted orange, navy, olive green and even a pretty blush. There were two shades however that flourished above the rest and seemed to bloom not just from the runway but also everywhere in between…

Burgundy in Fashion:

Taking cue from marsala, the Pantone color of the year, this rich, earthy hue can take a variety of forms. Add a little purple and you get a beautiful sangria shade or add a little more red and you get a refreshing cranberry color. All these tones of burgundy and more can be seen taking front and center this autumn! Bags to coats, dresses to shoes, just add a pop of burgundy to stay stylish and on trend.

Burgundy in the Home:

From fashion to your front door, burgundy can also be seen trending in home decor. From the switch to colder weather, this warm and spicy hue gives your home a cheerful energy without being over the top. Whether you are looking for a total room transformation or just a quick fall fix, easily layer in burgundy through rugs, pillows, throws, wall decor or even a new statement couch!

Greige in Fashion: The other color that’s trending is greige, a miraculous combination of grey and beige. The hottest neutral this season, greige can compliment just about anything. Even Bobbi Brown labeled her NEW fall collection after this perfectly chic tone, so you know it must be sticking around (at least for the moment!). If you want to dabble in this trend, we suggest trying a jacket or blazer, a pair of ankle booties, or even the greige eye palette to finish your look.

Greige in the Home: Although you can see greige trending throughout the home, it tends to stick to the walls. From paint to wallpaper to wall decor, this soothing and complimentary hue provides a peaceful and modern space that can easily be livened up with a pop of a brighter tone.

Prints: This season in prints we see some of the classics staying strong! There was a lot of Plaid seen on the runway including alternative prints such as houndstooth, gingham and checkered. A variety of stripes made their debut and a few other favorites that can be seen below…

Plaid in Fashion:

Plaid remains an iconic print for fall and winter and this year was no different. This classic and warm look could be seen adorning coats, dresses, skirts, scarves and bags. With more of a “tartan” influence, we were happy to see that this nostalgic print wasn’t going anywhere.

Plaid in the Home:

It’s very easy to add in a plaid touch to your home. Change up your bedding, swap out your summer pillows for a variety of plaid ones or throw a flannel blanket over your sofa for a warm and cozy fall upgrade.

Tribal in Fashion:

Being a huge fan of the tribal look, we were delighted to see it once more on the fall 2015 runway. From beautifully adorned jackets to printed skirts, tapestry covered totes and layers of global prints incorporated with tribal inspired jewelry, this trend is one of our favorites!

Tribal in the Home:

Bringing a chic and exotic touch to your home, incorporating patterned ottomans, kilim rugs and tribal inspired artwork and decor, can easily transform your home into a global oasis. Remember, you don’t have to be a world traveler to embrace this trend!

Florals in Fashion:

This year, florals were larger than life and whimsical! Floral appliqués were a huge trend, transforming ordinary neutral garments into beautiful art. Giving clothes a realistic feel, we were pleasantly surprised at how much we fell in love with each and every floral design.

Florals in the Home:

Although when autumn comes around we think of darker and richer colors, beautiful, eye-catching florals still have a place this season. From pillows to decorative wall murals, a refurbished dresser or new shower curtain, bring the whimsical floral to your home anyway you see fit.
