Fall 2015 Color & Pattern Trends

Autumn Has Never Ever Looked So Good!

cozy fall sweaters

September 23rd marks the start of the autumn season! The season of chunky knit sweaters, pumpkin spice lattes, brisk mornings, LOTS of turkey, apple picking, leaves changing, boots, darker hues and days you just want to stay curled up in bed. Although our favorite memories and pastimes of this special time of year stay the same, trends are always changing! So what’s in store for this year? Let’s take a peek…

Color: This Fall we see a more toned down palette that incorporates hues such as mustard, muted orange, navy, olive green and even a pretty blush. There were two shades however that flourished above the rest and seemed to bloom not just from the runway but also everywhere in between…

Burgundy in Fashion:

Taking cue from marsala, the Pantone color of the year, this rich, earthy hue can take a variety of forms. Add a little purple and you get a beautiful sangria shade or add a little more red and you get a refreshing cranberry color. All these tones of burgundy and more can be seen taking front and center this autumn! Bags to coats, dresses to shoes, just add a pop of burgundy to stay stylish and on trend.

Burgundy in the Home:

From fashion to your front door, burgundy can also be seen trending in home decor. From the switch to colder weather, this warm and spicy hue gives your home a cheerful energy without being over the top. Whether you are looking for a total room transformation or just a quick fall fix, easily layer in burgundy through rugs, pillows, throws, wall decor or even a new statement couch!

Greige in Fashion: The other color that’s trending is greige, a miraculous combination of grey and beige. The hottest neutral this season, greige can compliment just about anything. Even Bobbi Brown labeled her NEW fall collection after this perfectly chic tone, so you know it must be sticking around (at least for the moment!). If you want to dabble in this trend, we suggest trying a jacket or blazer, a pair of ankle booties, or even the greige eye palette to finish your look.

Greige in the Home: Although you can see greige trending throughout the home, it tends to stick to the walls. From paint to wallpaper to wall decor, this soothing and complimentary hue provides a peaceful and modern space that can easily be livened up with a pop of a brighter tone.

Prints: This season in prints we see some of the classics staying strong! There was a lot of Plaid seen on the runway including alternative prints such as houndstooth, gingham and checkered. A variety of stripes made their debut and a few other favorites that can be seen below…

Plaid in Fashion:

Plaid remains an iconic print for fall and winter and this year was no different. This classic and warm look could be seen adorning coats, dresses, skirts, scarves and bags. With more of a “tartan” influence, we were happy to see that this nostalgic print wasn’t going anywhere.

Plaid in the Home:

It’s very easy to add in a plaid touch to your home. Change up your bedding, swap out your summer pillows for a variety of plaid ones or throw a flannel blanket over your sofa for a warm and cozy fall upgrade.

Tribal in Fashion:

Being a huge fan of the tribal look, we were delighted to see it once more on the fall 2015 runway. From beautifully adorned jackets to printed skirts, tapestry covered totes and layers of global prints incorporated with tribal inspired jewelry, this trend is one of our favorites!

Tribal in the Home:

Bringing a chic and exotic touch to your home, incorporating patterned ottomans, kilim rugs and tribal inspired artwork and decor, can easily transform your home into a global oasis. Remember, you don’t have to be a world traveler to embrace this trend!

Florals in Fashion:

This year, florals were larger than life and whimsical! Floral appliqués were a huge trend, transforming ordinary neutral garments into beautiful art. Giving clothes a realistic feel, we were pleasantly surprised at how much we fell in love with each and every floral design.

Florals in the Home:

Although when autumn comes around we think of darker and richer colors, beautiful, eye-catching florals still have a place this season. From pillows to decorative wall murals, a refurbished dresser or new shower curtain, bring the whimsical floral to your home anyway you see fit.

2. Focus Point: Choose one larger piece to build the rest of your wall around. This will help to both ground your design as well as make positioning each additional print a whole lot easier.

Top 4 Spring Trends for 2015

Color, Fashion, and Decor Trends to Try in Spring 2015

There are many reasons why Spring makes us happy. Next to warmer weather and nature’s blossoming greens and flowers, the appearance of new fashion and decor trends are pretty close to the top of our list! Here is our round-up of fresh looks to try this season.

That 70′s Style

This groovy throwback style has been sashaying up and down the runways of Milan, Paris and New York and moving smoothly into home decor, too. We love the retro colors and stylings – especially when tastefully mixed into more modern surroundings. Try adding a fabulous flower child floral print or bold orange or avocado green accessory as a nod to the 70s. Low mod furniture, shag rugs, graphic floors and swanky lamps are also great ways to invite this trend inside without going all out.

Shibori

Tie Dye was all the rage last year, and for 2015 her sophisticated cousin, Shibori, is taking center stage. Named for an ancient Japanese art of fabric dying, shibori is traditionally seen in hues of indigo blue and white.

Geometrics

HGTV has declared geometrics as the frontrunning trend of 2015! We have seen this trend snowballing for a few seasons now, starting with the ever-present quatrefoil motif and escalating to include chic shapes of all kinds. We like the contemporary flair and balanced precision that geometrics bring to a space.

Greek Blue and Glossy Blue

Marsala may be the color of the year, but we are really feeling the love for bold Greek blues and glossy rich blues. House Beautiful has identified Mediterranean blue as a “need to know” color trend of 2015 and we second that sentiment. Lose yourself in the cool and chic blue spaces below for a taste of this glorious color at work.

New Year, New Colors…

2015 Color Predictions!

2015 color trends

Image via They All Hate Us

We have the whole year ahead of us to dream, create, dazzle and delight! Life will be changing all around us, from new fashion trends to new hairstyles, breaking news stories and more, 2015 will make its own mark.

In the home decorating world, the most popular trends and colors will gradually make their unveiling throughout the next twelve months. With Pantone announcing “Marsala” as the color of the year, we thought it would be fun to make our own predictions as to what colors will ultimately reign in 2015!

2015 color predictions

1. Warm Earthy Tones: With Marsala debuting as the 2015 color of the year, it seems only right that earthy tones will be seen alongside. Expect a warm mixture of toasty browns and oranges to chic and sophisticated hues of tan and beige.

2015 color trends

2. Bold Color Mixing: Bright colors are always in fashion! This year we expect there to be more mixing and matching of colors for an energetic impact. A bold feature wall or colorful piece of furniture is a wonderful starting point followed by a vibrant piece of art, pillow, duvet cover, lamp shade or kitchen appliance for the finishing touch.

2015 color trends

3. Green Makes a Comeback: Benjamin Moore announced Guilford Green as their 2015 color of the year. A pale silvery green, this soothing hue creates a peaceful interior that’s hard to match. On the other end of the spectrum, warm olive tones are being seen in both furniture and wall décor. This rich, natural hue is truly lovely (in the right shade of course!).

2015 color trends

4. Gray as a Neutral: Sophisticated, chic, trendy and stylish, gray is the “it” color. With the ability to stand alone or act as a neutral, gray isn’t going anywhere anytime soon! From walls to furniture, linens, rugs, accent pieces and beyond, there is not much that can’t be covered in this clean and polished hue.

5. Everything Blue: We saw blue make a comeback last year and we think it’s here to stay (at least for a little while longer..!). Bright Mediterranean style blues to gorgeous ocean shades, deep navy tones and more transform any space into majestic haven.
