Even though the warmth and sunshine of Summer still caress our days, it is fair to say that Fall is just around the corner. And this is the time of year when Fall fashion and back to school readiness are on our minds. We start perusing magazines and websites for our favorite trends, picturing ourselves looking fabulous and being the head of the class next season. Even as we lounge by the pool, wade at the waters edge and enjoy our coffee iced, the August breeze has us dreaming of our Autumn selves. Here are a few of our favorite looks for the upcoming season, along with the best and most popular ways to get organized this year.
Boho-Chic Mix & Match
One of the most popular looks this season draws on poetic bohemian style, where patterns are layered and mixed. With a free spirited whimsy, the boho-chic trend incorporates vintage florals with global designs and embellished stripes with a myriad of comfortable and luxurious textures. Items may appear time honored, gathered and collected from a cultured lifestyle of travel and worldly interests. They are not perfectly matched, but rather coordinated – a quilt-like patchwork of pretty prints. A flowing scarf, effortlessly draped around the neck, a myriad of colorful pillows, vintage and eccentric pieces mixed with beautiful fabrics, touches of lace and ethnic prints all define this fabulous fall trend.

90’s Skater Cool Grunge
The ’80s had a comeback last year and now we are reliving the ’90s! Flannel shirts and plaid have reemerged as a fashionable look, as well as skater style sneakers, tattered jeans, and anything with a punk rock edge. A stacked wrist of leather, colorful knit bracelets and biker chic glam looks are completing this trend – for both boys and girls! Go grunge with an edgy style, mixing some of these 90s staples into your wardrobe, accessories and decor, playing with plaids, punk rock leather and studs, beanie hats, and 90s prints.
Feathers, Fluff, Big Jewels, Glitter and Bows
On the other side of the style spectrum, flashy and frou-frou are also trending! Think fur vests, plush fluffy pillows, feather accents, oversized jewels and glittery accessories. Jewels and jewel prints are making statement pieces out of ordinary items, adding a touch of bling to your life. Feathers are dangling from dream catchers, necklaces, purses and appearing in fun prints. Glitter is cool again – especially copper colored shimmer. Furry fabrics and plush sweaters, especially those with shearling fur are making fashion and decor huggable and warm. Bows, including classic Minnie Mouse style cuties and more sophisticated versions are also popping up all over unexpected items!

Punchy Brights & Color Blocking
Orange is the New Black is not only the Netflix series sensation, it is also a true statement about fashion! Give your room a pop of this rejuvenating hue, and incorporate some orange into your wardrobe. Other dynamic colors like fuchsia pink, lots of vivid purples and a dazzling take on cobalt blue are also dominating designs. Color blocking has been trending for a few seasons and is rolling full steam ahead this year – with bold blocks of brights being layered and mixed into the mix together.
